Carpal Tunnel Repair

Carpal tunnel repair is a surgery wherein the transverse carpal ligament is cut, relieving pressure on the median nerve in the wrist. The space between the cut ligaments will eventually fill with scar tissue. This surgery is meant to relieve the symptoms of pain and weakness caused by severe, long-term carpal tunnel syndrome.

Elbow Arthroscopy

Elbow arthroscopy is a procedure used to inspect, diagnose, and repair problems inside the elbow joint using minimally invasive incisions and pencil-thin instruments. Arthroscopy typically results in less pain, less stiffness post surgery, and shorter recovery times. This surgery can be used to treat a variety of elbow ailments.

Wrist Arthroscopy

Wrist arthroscopy is a procedure used to inspect, diagnose, and repair problems inside or around the wrist using minimally invasive incisions and pencil-thin instruments. Arthroscopy typically results in less pain, less stiffness post surgery, and shorter recovery times. This surgery can be used to treat a variety of wrist ailments.

Surgical Repair of wrist, hand and finger fractures

Methodology for the surgical repair of fractures depends greatly on the location and pattern of the break. Splints, pins, screws, and plates may need to be used to stabilize the fracture to promote proper bone re-setting, healing, and recovery.

Surgical Repair of Trigger Finger

Tendons that help bend the finger glide easily with the help of pulleys. These pulleys can become too thick resulting in the tendons not gliding smoothly. Surgical repair of trigger finger involves cutting the tendon sheath of the pulley. This surgery is meant to eliminate the swelling and catch/lock that occurs to allow smooth, painless gliding and full extension of the finger.

Surgical Repair of Tendons

The surgical repair of tendons is done to treat damaged or torn tendons, resulting in the restoration of pain-free movement in a joint. This surgery typically involves sewing the tendon back together or re-attaching the tendon to its proper place. Depending on the extent of the injury, a tendon graft from another part of your body may need to be used.

Shoulder Arthroscopy & Repair

Shoulder arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed by making small incisions into the shoulder and using a fiber optic camera to view the interior of the shoulder joint. The instrument used is called an arthroscope, which is connected to a video monitor in the operating room. Using this procedure, physicians at Michigan institute for Advanced Surgery can view the area in and around the joint to inspect or repair any damaged tissues. Multiple types of shoulder injuries and diseases can be surgically repaired using arthroscopy.

  • Damaged, degenerated or torn rotator cuffs
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Shoulder joint instability and recurrent dislocations
  • Torn or damaged labrum or ligaments
  • Shoulder spurs and bone debris
  • Torn bicep tendons can be repaired and reattached to the bone of the Humerus
  • Clavicle fractures
